Overview
The Design Museum is embarking on an exciting project to rethink and reimagine its permanent collection gallery, Designer Maker User, coinciding with two major anniversaries and forming a key part of the museum’s wider Transformation 2029 strategy. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Conran Foundation, this project will strengthen the museum’s position as a global hub for the transformative potential of design.
We are now seeking a highly organised and motivated Project Coordinator to support the Capital Project Manager and Project team throughout the Development and Delivery Phases of this major project.
About the role
The Project Coordinator will play a vital role in supporting the successful delivery of the new permanent collection gallery. You will assist with planning, logistics, documentation and installation processes, working closely with the Project, Curatorial and Learning teams, as well as external consultants including designers, conservators and evaluators.
Key areas of focus include:
- Coordinating project administration, including meeting support, documentation and scheduling
- Supporting logistics for object movement, decant, transport and installation
- Assisting with the management of loans, condition reporting and object‑related documentation
- Liaising with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth project communication
- Supporting procurement, budgeting tasks and essential project documentation
- Assisting during onsite installation alongside technical teams, conservators and couriers
About you
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Experience working in a museum or gallery environment on exhibitions or object‑based projects
- Knowledge of museum practice relating to object management, transport and loans
- Strong organisational, time‑management and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in commonly used office software, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders

Terms and Conditions
Salary: up to £13,000 per annum (based on a full‑time equivalent of £26,000 per annum)
Contract: part‑time, 33-month fixed term
Holidays: 25 days per annum + Christmas eve (museum closed)
Hours: 17.5 hours per week (2.5 days)
Location: the Design Museum (Kensington), with a hybrid arrangement (60% on-site / 40% remote)
